A Hertfordshire pro is backing his big-hitting amateur partner to hit the birdie trail and help him gain success in Europe's biggest pro-am title.
Brickendon Grange head professional Andrew Clapp and Tom Hoskyn are competing in the PGA National Pro-Am Championship at Turkey's Antalya Golf Club.
The pair will be up against 15 other pairs from across Great Britain and Ireland over 36 holes at the David Jones-designed PGA Sultan Course with a £30,000 prize fund at stake for the pros.
And Clapp is confident he and gap-year student Hoskyn can have a good crack at lifting the trophy.
"He plays off seven but he is perfect for fourball, he's quite a strong hitter," said Clapp.
"Tom's one of those players, as he did in the qualifier, who can make four or five birdies.
"I've never been a record breaking 10 birdie a round man but if I can keep it solid for the times he comes a cropper which he will because of the way he plays then we'll have a chance."
Clapp, who took up a new role at Brickendon Grange in May, is looking forward to the trip more than most having cruelly missed out on the final last year on countback - ironically to the previous Brickendon pro.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I lost last year on countback in the qualifier to the previous pro who used to be at Brickendon so the club has got a good record but it's the first time I've been in it," he said.
"I have been in the new job since May so it's been a bit hectic and I haven't played nearly as much as I would have liked to so it will be nice to go away and play some golf."
In addition to the two day final which takes place from December 2-3, the pair will be enjoying an all expenses stay at the Sirene Beach and Hotel Resort which lies on the shores of the Turkish Mediterranean.
