Tiger’s First Coach Signs Up

Published in:

A rare insight into the early career of Tiger Woods will be one of the highlights at the 2009 PGAs of Europe Teaching and Coaching Conference.

Rudy Duran, who was the world number one's first coach from aged four to 10, has been confirmed as one of the speakers at the conference, which is taking place at Birmingham's ICC from October 22-24.

As part of his presentation Duran will be showing rare footage of the two of them working together, charting an important chapter in Woods' meteoric rise to becoming arguably the greatest player in the history of the sport.

Duran, author of a book entitled 'In every kid there lurks a Tiger', won US PGA Tour's Card Walker award for his contribution to junior golf in 2000 with Woods making the presentation.

"Helping students become better at playing golf is not about what I know, instead, it's about how I can help create a learning environment that allows the student to increase their self awareness and maximize their individual golf skills," he says on his website www.rudyduran.com

"I feel it is important for students to experience the whole game when they practice or are being coached, so they are more prepared when they arrive on the first tee.

"It is the complete training of all disciplines (from full swing to putting) in small amounts, and delivering that information in a positive environment, that gives students the tools necessary to develop the best game they can within their ability, desire, and time to play and practice.
