A Surrey golf pro will go head to head with an array of ex-Ryder Cup stars in next week's Weston Homes PGA International Seniors at Stoke by Nayland.
Phil Harrison, director of golf at Wildwood, secured his place in the event after a top five finish in the Senior PGA Professional Championship earlier in the season.
Among those chasing victory in the £175,000 event will be Eamonn Darcy who famously sank the winning putt to clinch the Ryder Cup in 1987 - the first time Europe had ever won on American soil.
Also in the field for the PGA International Seniors will be Italian favourite Costantino Rocca, who defeated Tiger Woods in the 1997 Ryder Cup, and the in-form Gordon J Brand with back to back titles under his belt following wins at the PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall and the Travis Perkins Woburn Masters.
Harrison warmed up for the Suffolk tournament by making the cut at the De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship where he played alongside another Ryder Cup legend, Ian Woosnam, in the third round.
The 50-year-old, who spent 13 years on the European Tour, is relishing the challenge having already competed on the European Seniors Tour at Jersey earlier this year.
"There are a lot of good players as I know from Jersey when I finished 26th," he said.
"I had a bad start as I was four over after four but after that I played quite well and should have finished in the top 10.
"But it proved to me I can be competitive against them and I feel that my game has moved on from when I played there in June.
Cumbrian-born Harrison, who has two golfing brothers, John, head pro at Matfen Hall and Steve, head pro at Eden Golf Club, also has an eye on attempting to get a tour card at the end of the season to give himself more tournament options, despite his heavy workload.
"I'll go for my card at the end of the year and have a simple plan of playing about 10 events or so, playing early in the season and at the end of the season," he said.
"I've got a category based on career earnings but its only reserve spots, so I have to improve on that."
