Guy Woodman remained on course for an historic Assistants' double after topping the leaderboard in the Crown Golf English PGA Assistants' Championship qualifier in Surrey.
Woodman, who won the Powerade PGA Assistants' Championship in association with FootJoy a fortnight ago, maintained his form with a six-under-par 66 at Pyrford Golf Club to be one of six qualifiers for next month's final.
The East Berkshire pro, who is one of the favourites for the title which will see the winner take on the elite of the European Tour with a place in next year's English Open, was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Nicholas Smith of Golf at Goodwood.
Woodman had equal halves of 33, included an eagle at the 12th, six birdies and two bogeys.
Smith rattled in seven birdies, including four-in-a-row from the sixth, with his only dropped shot coming at the 12th.
The other qualifiers were Mark Richecoeur (unattached) who was a shot behind in third.
Matt Stock (Woldingham) and Ben Cummings (Dummer) both shot 68s to reach the final, with Wisley's Martin Woodbridge claiming the last spot with a three-under-par 69.
The final will be held at Batchworth Park on September 29 with the winner chasing a share of the £16,000 prize fund and a place in the English Open at St Mellion International Resort.
