Wyndham Championship winner Carl Pettersson is hoping his PGA Tour form can continue at this week's Barclays tournament and take him onto Europe's Ryder Cup team.
The US-based Swede jumped into an already crowded mix for a captain's pick on Nick Faldo's European team for the 37th Ryder Cup in Louisville next month following his victory on the US Tour at the Wyndham Championship in his hometown of Greensboro last weekend.
"Well, that would be great," Pettersson said, "but hopefully I can make the team if I can play well here this week and next week."
Automatic qualification for the team via the world points list is a near impossibility, with Pettersson needing to win the Barclays, the first of four FedEx Cup play-off events, while hoping all his better-placed rivals slip up on both sides of the Atlantic.
As next weekend's Deutsche Bank Championship does not finish until Monday, September 1, that means the Swede - who last weekend admitted he feels more American than European - only has seven rounds in which to further impress Faldo for a pick.
Faldo will name his two wild cards on August 31 at the end of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in Scotland.
