Scotland's Craig Ronald fired a third round 68 to hoist himself into contention in the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at Moortown.
The Carluke pro coped with the blustery conditions and sodden fairways to shoot a three under par score for the clubhouse lead at one under par.
His round included an eagle at the first and birdies at the seventh, 10th, 12th with dropped shots at the second and 17th holes.
"It was even tougher than the last couple of days," said Ronald who has lowered his score each successive round (74, 70 and 68).
"I would have taken 68 after yesterday when I lost some momentum by coming off. I'll take it as it comes this afternoon but it's going to be tough because the wind is picking up and it will be tricky."
Paul Simpson (West Berkshire) and David Shacklady (Mossock Hall) are setting the pace at five under par for the tournament (three under par after 13 holes for their third round).
Simpson, who shot a 67 in round two, is reaping the benefits of a strategic approach and revealed he has not used a driver or even tee peg off the tee all week.
Andrew Barnett (North Wales Driving Range) and Graeme Bell (Eaglescliffe) remain at three under par.
Pontypool's Jo Pritchard is setting the pace in the Glenmuir Women's PGA Professional Championship and after five holes was one under par to enjoy a three shot lead over Lysa Jones (The Oaks), Alison Gray (Ormskirk) and Emma Prentice (Gog Magog).
