Greig Hutcheon has been forced to turn his back on this week's Scottish PGA championship - due to his unexpected success on this year's European Challenge Tour.
The Peterculter pro, who has won the Tartan Tour Order of Merit for the past two years, has had to pull the plug on his bid after another impressive week on the European golf's second tier.
Hutcheon secured a share of sixth spot at the £175,000 Scottish Challenge at Cardrona after finishing five under par for the week.
It earned him almost €7,000 and pushed him to 22nd in the Challenge Tour rankings and closer to the prospect of a European Tour card - which is open to the top 20 at the end of the season.
The 35-year-old was set to play in the national championship at Gleneagles, which starts on Thursday, but said: "I've been invited to a Challenge Tour event in France and I'd be foolish to decline that.
"It's just a shame but I'm going to have to call Gleneagles and tell them I'll miss the Scottish PGA.
"I had no intention of competing on the Challenge Tour but because I've played well and I'm getting into more events I've had to rethink my schedule."
